  4. #6 Best Public High Schools in Baltimore CountyDulaney High SchoolBaltimore County Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.84 out of 5 452 reviewsAlum: I transferred into Dulaney High School as a rising Junior. Having never attended public high school due to homeschooling prior, this was a very daunting experience. While I feel I received an excellent public education at Dulaney, I feel as though the institution was lacking in the administrative and college-preparation departments. Once I compared my experience with college applications and advisors to that of my college peers, I realized those who succeed at Dulaney had to be self-motivated. There was very little assistance or support on the part of administration, personally, and the school suffered from this. There was also a very apparent divide in the student body, as the self-motivated students were selected from early on, while those who struggled initially were typically left in the dust.... 5. #7 Best Public High Schools in Baltimore CountyCatonsville High SchoolBaltimore County Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.82 out of 5 481 reviewsSenior: I have had mostly good experiences here. It’s not unlike many other public high schools in my area. My school does have good AP programs. I have had some incredible teachers that really pushed me and made me believe in myself. The worst part has to be the overcrowding or the cuts to many art and language programs. Also, the bathrooms! Most of the bathrooms are shut off because one year a kid stole a whole toilet. Now only one bathroom is open on each floor and so many kids use them it just is nasty. I wish that the French and Chinese programs could have more support along with the arts. I feel like there is definitely an emphasis on stem and a lack of importance placed on the arts. Art classes have been my favorite part of school so it sucks to see the cuts.... 6. #8 Best Public High Schools in Baltimore CountyPerry Hall High SchoolBaltimore County Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.8 out of 5 475 reviewsSenior: Perry Hall is a very enjoyable high school with upsides and downsides like every school. There’s diversity with a mix of different ethnicities like Black, African, White, Chinese, Mexican, Hispanic, etc. most teachers are kind and the School is very organized and easy to navigate through. The guidance counselor is a very sweet and helpful person due to her nice comments and ability to reach out to students about upcoming events and tips for success. However, there’s a history of violence and there’s violence that still goes on at the school. In the past Perry Hall was a part of a shooting that killed/injured students. In the present moment there has been fight and truthfully you never know how harmful a fight can become especially with all that is going on. There’s many police due to it being located near a Police station. Perry Hall is also very public with many houses and stores surrounding it which is a good thing when it comes to safety.... One thing that stands out is how supportive the teachers are; They always take the time to work with students one on one when needed, which helped me a lot whenever I was struggling with something. It made learning a lot easier. However, I do think the school could work on getting more students involved. It often feels like the same group of people are the ones joining clubs, sports, and other activities. If the school encouraged more students to participate, it could bring everyone closer and make things more exciting for everyone. In general, I’ve had a positive experience, but with a bit more student involvement, I think Franklin High could be even better.... With the selections I made previously, I feel like they are doing their best to make the school safe from the outside world and making all students get a good GPA on their record. The selections I made with “n/a”, are the ones that does not involve myself and my guardian in the school. 10. #12 Best Public High Schools in Baltimore CountyLoch Raven High SchoolBaltimore County Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.75 out of 5 297 reviewsSenior: Transferring to loch Raven for my senior year was pretty nerve wracking, I didn’t know what to expect. First off, the administration is extremely nice and supportive. My counselor is great! The students are pretty chill, except for some of the 9th graders. There are some altercations, but that is to be expected. The teachers are fine, just do your work and your set. I find that in the AP classes, teachers put in more effort; there is less computer work in those classes. The cafeteria food isn’t good, but it isn’t terrible, then again it’s free. Loch Raven offers qualifying students to do duel enrollment with CCBC free of charge- super happy about that. Overall, this is a pretty good small public high school.... They offer many diverse programs especially for those interested in science and technology. But I’d like to see a change in the diversity of students. My high school is majority white with little to no other races and cultures. This year in particular I loved to see that are school is trying to implement some change. For example we now have an African American studies class. This change is one of I hope many in the upcoming years at Sparrows Point. I’d recommend this school to anyone. Even if you aren’t all too interested in science this school is filled with amazing staff that are always offering to help in any way. We have many clubs and activities that will keep anyone busy after school lets out. I’ve never had a bad moment personally at Sparrows Point. 13. Owings Mills High SchoolBaltimore County Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.37 out of 5 233 reviewsSenior: To be honest I had a rocky experience with my school at first from 9th grade to middle of 10th grade due to bad friends that I surrounded myself with which caused me to have lack of focus and made me get caught up in a lot of drama. I was going through a lot mentally at school and at home but that later changed when I took accountability for what I wanted for myself and changed my environment and my mindset. In the process of me changing and becoming who I want to be I've gotten help from my admin, my mentors, my teachers, and my close friends who also have the same goals as me and I'm very grateful for them and the support they have given me. One thing I would like to see change in my school is how people go about certain situations and how they treat people close to them I would also like to see their mindsets change and actually be mature.... I’ve had my bad teachers and experiences but I’ve also had teachers that have really really helped me through some things and taught me life lessons. I definitely love my school. We are a very good community despite the conflicts that arrive. My main complaint is the food. It so very bad. There are vending machines however that do have some good snacks. I’ve gotten to meet many people from completely different backgrounds over the years and it’s helped me to navigate those same characters in the real world. The best part of Overlea High School is definitely the culture and how everyone gets together for sports events. Milford Mill AcademyBaltimore County Public Schools, MD·9-12·Rating 3.56 out of 5 272 reviewsSenior: Milford Mill Academy has been an overall positive experience for me, but there are areas that need improvement. One of the best parts is the dedicated teachers who truly care about their students' success. The school also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, allowing students to explore their interests outside the classroom. However, there needs to be more order and structure in certain areas of the school. For example, bathroom access is often restricted, which can be inconvenient for students. Keeping the bathrooms open during class times would improve the daily experience. Additionally, I would like to see better communication between students and administration to address concerns more effectively.
